GEWIEKSTE OPLICHTERS LOPEN TEGEN DE LAMP<\/strong><\/p>\n

Uitgemolken na brutale kunstroof<\/p>\n

De grote kunstroof in Limburg waarvoor dinsdag drie mensen zijn opgepakt, was achter de schermen een gewiekste oplichtingsoperatie. De verdachte is Armandus van D. (48), bewoner van een woonwagenkamp in Berg en Terblijt met de bijnaam \u2019Mauzo\u2019.<\/p>\n

Het bizarre verhaal rond de roof van onder meer een Mesdag en een Mondriaan begon in april, zo vertelt de vermaarde priv\u00e9detective John Vullers<\/strong> van JohnV-Detectives<\/strong> aan De Telegraaf. Hij werd benaderd door de gedupeerde eigenaar van de werken: een kunstverzamelaar uit het Limburgse Voerendaal.<\/p>\n

\u201eAanvankelijk had hij de politie benaderd, maar die hadden geen capaciteit voor een onderzoek.\u201d De kunstverzamelaar was in contact gekomen met Armandus van D., die een koper had voor zijn kunstwerken. Die koper was Jozephus B. uit Enschede.<\/p>\n

\u201eDe drie reden naar een locatie vlakbij Maastricht waar ze de kunstwerken bekeken. Toen ze een prijs overeen waren gekomen gingen ze naar Eindhoven voor de financi\u00eble afwikkeling van de deal.\u201d Vlak voor Eindhoven maakten de mannen een stop voor het eten van een broodje. \u201eToen de kunstverzamelaar terugkwam bij de wagen bleken de werken verdwenen te zijn. Van D. zei dat hij ze vast weg had gebracht.\u201d<\/p>\n

Volgens de kunsthandelaar lieten Van D. en B. hem weten dat hij zich geen zorgen hoefde te maken. Het geld voor de werken lag in een kluis in een casino in Valkenburg. \u201eVan D. vertelde binnen dat hij moest wachten op de code van de kluis. Maar toen het casino om drie uur \u2019s nachts de deuren sloot had nog niemand gebeld.\u201d<\/p>\n

Het werd nog gekker. Van D. liet de kunstverzamelaar weten dat de koper wilde afzien van de koop omdat er gaatjes in een van de schilderijen zaten. \u201eVan D. wilde tegen een vergoeding de schilderijen terughalen. Maar toen kwam hij met het verhaal dat de werken in Londen waren. Hij kon ze halen, maar wel tegen betaling.\u201d<\/p>\n

De gedupeerde eigenaar betaalde forse bedragen. Toen hij inzag dat hij werd opgelicht stapte de man naar de politie en Vullers. \u201eIk heb hem laten weten dat dit een bekende manier van afpersen is bij kunstroven. Het doel was om de kunstverzamelaar uit te melken. Het is pure afpersing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vullers deelde informatie met de politie, die een onderzoek startte. \u201eHet is uiteindelijk goed door de politie opgepakt.\u201d Dinsdag deden politiemensen invallen in Best, Enschede, Berg en Terblijt en Zwolle. Naast Van D. en B. arresteerde de politie nog een man uit Best. Zeven schilderijen met een waarde van enkele honderdduizenden euro\u2019s, zijn teruggevonden. Bij de verdachten ontdekte de politie ook cash, drugs en vuurwapens.<\/p>\n

Van D. is een bekende van de politie. Of de andere verdachten een justitieel verleden hebben is niet bekend. De kunstverzamelaar wil anoniem blijven. \u201eNa een lange tijd van slapeloze nachten ben ik meer dan blij dat de kunstwerken terug zijn. Ik had het geloof in een goede afloop eigenlijk al verloren\u201d, zo laat hij weten.<\/p>\n

De advocaat van Van D. laat weten dat zijn cli\u00ebnt inmiddels weer op vrije voeten is. \u201eHij ontkent dat hij iets verkeerds heeft gedaan. Volgens hem is er gewoon betaald voor de schilderijen\u201d, aldus Jules Heemskerk. De andere advocaten zijn niet bekend.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
